Harmonization of the body and soul

<

Cordyceps (Chinese caterpillar, Cordyceps sinensis) was considered in ancient China and Tibet one of the most valuable mushrooms used to harmonize the soul and body. This parasitic mushroom is a rich source of beta-glucans, minerals, trace elements, and vitamins.

Cordyceps sinensis (Dongchonxiacao, Chinese caterpillar, Caterpillar mushroom, Ophiocordyceps sinensis) belongs to the Cordyceps genus, which also includes Cordyceps militaris, Cordyceps liangshamensis, Cordyceps gunnii, and others (nearly 700 species have been discovered). It is an edible parasitic ascomycete fungus. Its spores attach to the surfaces of insect larvae and subsequently fill the entire shell with their sclerotium, from which the mature mushroom then grows. Cordyceps grows at elevations above approximately 3,500 metres, mainly in the mountains of Tibet and in the Chinese provinces of Sichuan, Yunnan, and elsewhere.

The mushroom is collected from April to August. However, it is now rarely found in the wild. Apparently, its occurrence has declined by 90% over the past 25 years, which has naturally increased its market value; this is why the mushroom is also cultivated artificially. Demand for Cordyceps is driven mainly by its effects on human health.

The power of Cordyceps has been used for thousands of years by traditional Chinese and Tibetan medicine. There are stories describing how yak herders observed a change in the animals when they grazed on Cordyceps.

The animals were more vital, stronger, healthier, and more potent. Written records can be traced back to as early as 620 AD. Cordyceps has been known in the Western world only since 1726, when it was presented at a mycological conference in Paris. At that time, however, the Western world had no understanding of Cordyceps's effects. This changed much later, partly because in 1964 Cordyceps was officially listed among herbal medicines in Chinese pharmacology.

Composition

Cordyceps with a concentration of 50% polysaccharides, 20% β-1,3/1,6 D-glucans, and 20% D-mannitol acts more intensely to support the body's natural defenses. It is therefore suitable for acute imbalance.

For long-term imbalance, Cordyceps with 30% polysaccharides is more suitable because it contains a broad spectrum of bioactive compounds.
