Poria cocos – Coconut Poria is used alone or in combination with other herbs and mushrooms for its various medicinal effects. These effects include improved blood formation, treatment of eye diseases, strengthening of the spleen and kidneys, and calming the nerves.

In traditional Chinese medicine, Poria cocos is considered one of the most important medicinal mushrooms. It is valued especially for its ability to remove moisture (Shi) from the body while strengthening Spleen Qi (Pi Qi). Pi Qi is the system responsible for producing Qi and blood, which form the basis of our body's vitality. It is not enough to care only about the quality of the food we consume, but also about the quality and strength of the Spleen, which plays a key role in the process of digestion and energy metabolism.

Poria cocos is a wood-decaying saprophytic fungus that grows mainly on injured trees, fallen trunks, and stumps.

Poria cocos prefers a subtropical climate with higher humidity, which allows it to grow in areas of East and Southeast Asia, especially in China, Vietnam, and Thailand.

This mushroom has been known in China for more than 2,000 years, where it is used in traditional Chinese medicine. It is also mentioned in the most famous Chinese herbal, the Sheng Nong.
